My Favorite Quilt

Hello everyone! So, this is a post about my favorite quilt. I have posted photos of some of my other quilts but I don't think I have posted any photos of this one.
The top photo is the top of the quilt and the other photo has a corner of the quilt folded over that shows the backing. The top is a Double Irish Chain. This is a special quilt for me because it is the very first one I made. My mom is a quilter and she had been trying to convince me to try it. I was hesitant because I wasn't confident in my sewing skills. I was afraid that after a whole lot of work, I'd be disappointed with the end result. Then I found the backing fabric while browsing at the fabric store and loved it and decided I "needed" a quilt with it. My mom helped me strip piece the top, piece together the backing (including adding the border around the edges and mitering the corners!) and hand quilt it. When it was done I was AMAZED! I was proud that I had done it and happily surprised at how well it turned out. I was also hooked on quilting! That was the beginning of a new obsession for me. I have made quite a few quilts since but my first quilt is still being used. I had it on my own bed for a long time and right now it is on my son's bed (under his more boy-style comforter, more for warmth than looks LOL). So, that is my favorite quilt. My very first quilt. Thanks Mom for getting me hooked! Oh, and if you want to check out more quilts in the Fall 2009 Bloggers Quilt Festival please check it out here. Thanks for reading!

Very nice quilt! I especially like that your Mom helped you with it. Strip piecing is certainly a handy technique to learn right away! ; ) Glad you son gets to snuggle under it for now. Thanks for sharing!
